The Great Thanksgiving

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come,
your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who
sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever.
Amen.

Bread for the Ages                                                                  Words and Music Gilbert Stones 2012

Refrain:
Bread for the world,
Bread for the journey,
Bread for the ages,
Sent from above.
Bread sent to challenge,
Sustain and Empower us.
Bread to prefigure the great feast of love.

Jesus once stood on the shores of the Galilee,
Thousands before him all clamored for bread.
He opened his hands, and sent forth his spirit,
And so by his power the hungry were fed.

Refrain

Jesus sat down, amidst his apostles
Lifting the bread and blessing the wine
Bidding them all, observe and remember
And so we draw strength when we take it each time.

Refrain

Jesus still comes when we gather together
Offering bread to each kindred and tribe
Revealing himself in the wine of redemption
His life poured freely for all who imbibe

Refrain

On the great day, we’ll meet in the kingdom,
Where the lamb’s banquet before us is spread
And then on that day, we’ll have understanding
Of all of the mysteries contained in this bread.
